We consider Waldorf education as a "cultural action." By seeking to understand the development of human life and actively responding to the challenges of our times, we aspire for education to become a driving force in promoting reflection and progress in civilization as well as social change.

Our Aims 


Promoting self-growth and professional development of educators
This master program is grounded in the in-depth exploration and reflection on Anthroposophy and Waldorf education, serving as an important foundation for educators' physical, mental and spiritual development. Through the integration of Anthroposophical epistemology and artistic education, the program aims to cultivate educators' capacity for awareness and self-growth.

Renewing and transforming  curriculum and teaching

This master program takes Waldorf education as a global and local proactive educational endeavor in response to the call of our times for changes through rigorous research so as to promote the renewal and transformation of curriculum and teaching.

Facilitating Educational Reform and School Development

Under the concept of the threefold society, the master program is aimed at promoting research on school organization, school administration, community work, school development and leadership, etc., in order to facilitate the development of innovative schooling in various forms.

Developing Autonomous Research Community in Education

This master program is dedicated to developing a research community related to Waldorf education and innovative schooling. Master students will be facilitated with academic theories and research methods,  becoming independent researchers to create a community for autonomous knowledge production.

Enhancing cross-boundary dialogue,   sharing and exchanges

This master program emphasizes the connection of Waldorf education with contemporary thoughts in Education, while also engaging in exchanges with other forms of innovative education. We aspire to establish an open research platform that facilitates dialogue with mainstream education and various forms of innovative schooling, promoting overall educational transformation and sustainable social development.

Our Features 

The first international master program for Waldorf educators in Asia
Established in 2019, this program is the first international master program in Waldorf Education in Asia, providing a learning space of dialogue and sharing for front-line educators. Through independent academic research and collaboration, we explore the development of human life, deepen the art of education, reflect on practical experience, and face new issues in the era of sustainable development and AI.

Collaboration between National Tsinghua University and International Institutions

This program has been established in collaboration with the Freie Hochschule Stuttgart, Germany, a leading institution for Waldorf professional research and training, and Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand and together with our university, we offer a master program characterized by highly innovative thinking and proactive social ideals.

An international and bilingual learning environment

To create an internationally diverse learning environment, this program enrolls both domestic and international students (including students from Hong Kong and Macau). The faculty comprises professors from Germany, the United States, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and National Tsinghua University.  Communication in class is conducted in both Chinese and English. Master theses can be written in either English or Chinese, supervised by faculty from our university or foreign professors.

Flexible course schedule for in-service teachers

A flexible course schedule is designed to meet the needs of in-service educators.  Students of this three-year master program meet in person or online during certain weekends of the semester and in the summer time for two weeks in July or August as well as in the winter time for one week in January or February.  We recruit students every other year.
